Jurgen Klopp 'would leave Red Bull for 2 roles' as pressure builds on Arne Slot

Reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp would be open to a move to Real Madrid, as rumors swirl that the Spanish team could soon set its sights on the German.

Madrid has hit a rough patch under Xabi Alonso. There were whispers that his role could be in jeopardy if the team didn't win Wednesday's Champions League clash against Manchester City - and that's exactly what happened, as Pep Guardiola's players recorded a famous 2-1 win in the Spanish capital.

Klopp, the former Liverpool manager, is thought to be among the top candidates to take over from Alonso should Madrid opt for a change in management - and it seems the German wouldn't be opposed to a move to Spain.

Earlier this year, Brazilian media reports indicated that Klopp was becoming disillusioned with his role as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull and would consider leaving for two specific opportunities: Real Madrid and the Brazil national team.

The Brazil job is currently filled, with Carlo Ancelotti set to guide the country through the upcoming World Cup campaign.

Speaking about the prospect of returning to management earlier this year, Klopp said on the Diary of a CEO podcast: "I said I will never coach a different team in England. So that means if [Klopp returns], it's Liverpool.

"So yeah, theoretically it's possible. I love what I do right now, I don't miss coaching. I don't. I mean I do coach, just different, not players. And I don't miss it. I don't miss standing in the rain two-and-a-half, three hours.

"I don't miss going to press conference three times a week, having 10-12 interviews a week. I don't miss that. I don't miss being in the dressing room in the sense that I don't have it often enough, I coached 1,080 something games.

"So, I was in the dressing room very, very often. I'm 58, that's from your perspective, old from the other side, it's not that old. That means I could make the decision in a few years. I don't know.

"[If] I had to make the decision today, I won't coach again, but thank God I don't have to do that. I can just see what the future brings."

While Klopp may be considering a potential switch to Spain, it appears Alonso isn't preparing to depart Madrid just yet. When asked whether he still retained the support of his squad, the Spaniard replied: "Yes."

He added: "The team is united, the team is convinced. Everyone is convinced we can win tomorrow. Nobody has doubts. But for that, we have to play with a good rhythm, intensity, and compete."

Pressure is also building on Liverpool manager Arne Slot. The Reds are 10th in the Premier League table, and talisman Mohamed Salah has spoken out against the club and the manager.

Slot will need to start picking up some results if he's to ease that pressure. Liverpool faces Brighton at Anfield on Saturday.
