Jurrien Timber was forced to withdraw in the first half against Everton and is the latest injury concern for Mikel Arteta

Jurrien Timber has become Arsenal's latest injury scare after limping off against Everton. The Dutch defender failed to shake off an issue following a collision with Iliman Ndiaye midway through the first half.

Ndiaye caught Timber on the right ankle as he spun in behind. Timber received treatment on the pitch and attempted to continue, but he was eventually forced off and replaced by Cristhian Mosquera on 37 minutes.

The problem appeared to centre on his right ankle. Timber has yet to share any update on social media, and Mikel Arteta was not asked about his condition after the match.

Any setback at this stage would be a significant blow for the Gunners as they continue their push for the title.

Arteta is already without Leandro Trossard, who was forced off during last weekend's FA Cup win over Mansfield Town. Martin Odegaard also missed the Everton game as he continues to recover from a persistent knee issue.

"I'm desperate to get back to playing as soon as I can," Odegaard said in his captain's column for Arsenal's matchday programme for the Everton clash. "It's been difficult for me with the knee injury lately, but I'm working as hard as I can to get back to full fitness now. The main thing is to be 100 per cent again, and make sure I can properly help the team."

Mikel Merino remains a long‑term absentee following surgery on his foot.

Arsenal, who beat Everton 2–0 in the Premier League to strengthen their lead at the top of the table, are back in Champions League action on Tuesday evening. They will look to overturn the 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

The north Londoners had a remarkable league phase campaign, going unbeaten in all of their eight games to finish at the summit.
