Arsenal trio Eberechi Eze, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber have all withdrawn from their respective international squads while Noni Madueke has been nursing an issue with his wrist

Noni Madueke left Wembley Stadium with significant strapping on his left wrist following Arsenal's Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

The 24-year-old, who came off the bench in the second half for the Gunners, also wore a cast on his wrist during his 24-minute cameo.

While England will monitor the issue, the current expectation is that Madueke will still be fine to feature in the Three Lions' upcoming international friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, respectively.

It's understood the former Chelsea attacker picked up the problem in Arsenal training on Friday following an accidental and innocuous collision with a youth-team player.

Madueke was able to train as normal on Saturday when the Gunners took part in a light session at London Colney and he will now seek to cement his place in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Eberechi Eze was, however, forced to withdraw from the England fold due to a calf issue sustained in the midweek Champions League victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Mikel Arteta claims his side "tried everything" to help Eze beat his race against the clock to prove his fitness for the final but he could not be risked. Arteta said post-match: "We have to do another scan in six or seven days and wait and see the results."

Sources close to Eze have indicated he initially thought he'd escaped injury, hence his comments on Tuesday evening after scoring a stunner against Leverkusen when he told TNT Sports he "was alright."

But the attacking midfielder is understood to have flagged discomfort upon his return to the Sobha Realty Training Centre for recovery and initial tests raised concern he'd suffered an injury.

Eze was pictured on the grass with his Arsenal team-mates on Saturday but it was decided he would not be available.

Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes has since replaced him in the England squad; Barnes' only Three Lions appearance to date came in a friendly against Wales in October 2020.

Arsenal playmaker Eze arrived at Wembley with the Gunners squad on Sunday and moved freely without a limp when he departed the home of English football.

Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber has also withdrawn from the Holland squad for upcoming friendlies against Norway and Ecuador.

The Dutchman missed the Carabao Cup final due to an issue sustained in the 2-0 Premier League win against Everton when he was substituted before the interval.

Centre-back William Saliba has also pulled out of France's friendlies versus Brazil and Colombia in the United States due to a left ankle injury.

Again, he was not limping or moving gingerly when he left Wembley yesterday, offering hope he is merely resting up ahead of the run-in.

Saliba recently missed away wins at Brighton and Mansfield Town due to an ankle problem he sustained in the 2-1 win over Chelsea, a match in which he scored.

The France national team said in a statement that Saliba is suffering with “recurring pain his his left ankle” which requires “a minimum rest period of 10 days."
