The latest Man City news as Rodri was forced off in the first half of the Premier League win over Brentford on Sunday
Manchester City face a nervous wait over some injury concerns as the second international break of the season begins.
City played out a 1-0 away win against Brentford on Sunday afternoon with Erling Haaland’s first half goal proving to be the difference between the two teams. The win moved City to within three points of league leaders Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola now has some time to prepare his team for their next Premier League outing, with City not back in action until Saturday, October 18 when they take on Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
Rodri was forced off the pitch in the first half of the game against Brentford with a hamstring injury and he will play no part for Spain in the international break, raising fears of a longer injury lay-off.
The player himself has given a positive update after the game.
"I'm good," he said. "I felt a little bit in the hamstring but it seems like it's not that much. The important thing was the victory.
"I stretched the leg a little bit, a bit like in the Euros final. I stretched a little bit but it's part of the process.
"I don't feel that I feel tired muscle wise, I feel fresh but the most important thing is it's not that big.
"It's part of the process. The good thing about this is you get out, you don't let the muscle stretch now. The good thing is the break so it will be even better in this sense to recover these days and hopefully I can be in the next game."
That would be a big boost to City and they will hope to be able to call on some more players too.
All three of Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri could potentially return for the game against Everton.
Khusanov is continuing his recovery from an injury picked up against Arsenal last month when he was withdrawn at half time, while Marmoush suffered a knee injury during the last international break.
Ait-Nouri picked up an ankle injury during his debut against Tottenham Hotspur. Despite him not being included in Alegria’s squad for the international break, he could return to training with City toward the end of the current break.
It therefore means that City could potentially welcome all three players back for the clash against Everton.
