Marko Lazetic says the "energy and intensity" at Aberdeen was a key reason in his decision to sign for the club.

Lazetic, 21, has signed for the Pittodrie side from AC Milan for an undisclosed fee.

The Serbia Under-21 international, who had a year left of his contract left to run in Italy, has agreed a four-year deal with the Scottish Premiership club.

Lazetic made his professional debut for Red Star Belgrade at the age of 16, having come through his local club's youth ranks.

He was sold to AC Milan in January 2022 for a reported fee of £3.5m but has since made just two appearances for the Serie A side.

Lazetic has, though, had loan spells with Graficar Beograd, Rheindorf Altach, Fortuna Sittard and, most recently, back in his homeland's top flight with TSC.

He made 23 starts and 20 substitute appearances last season as TSC finished seventh in the Serbian top flight and reached the Conference League knockout phase play-offs.

"It feels amazing to finally be here after a bit of a wait, but I am ready to get to work", Lazetic said.

"When Aberdeen called, I thought that is a place I want to call home. I saw the desire from the manager and staff here to make this happen, I loved the energy from everyone, so that's why I wanted to be here as soon as possible.

"I think it's a place where I can grow as a player and a person. It's important as a player to be somewhere you feel you can work and excel. I think with Aberdeen they will help me to be a better player, and I hope I can help the club to be successful.

"I've seen footage of the fans, and I love their intensity. I look at football that way so I cannot wait to get to Pittodrie and hopefully score and celebrate with the fans."
