Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane reportedly got into a scuffle with a fan after feeling "humiliated" during this year's Oktoberfest celebrations. The 29-year-old was back in Munich this past weekend to take part in the frivolities before things turned sour.

It's understood Sane was goaded by fans while passing through the Weinzelt tent at around 11pm local time on Sunday evening. And Sane allegedly retaliated when a table of Bayern supporters started shouting "Scheiß Gala," which translates to "Sh***y Galatasaray," the club he joined after leaving Munich in the summer.

"I was provoked and personally humiliated for a long time in the festival tent," Sane told Bild. "Galatasaray was also insulted. In the tense atmosphere, I was pushed, and then a brief fight broke out. Of course, I should have been calmer at the time and ignored the situation. I learned from it."

Goal reported eyewitness accounts that claimed some fan taunts "crossed into racist territory." It also said Sane did his best to ignore the chants and keep his calm before turning to confront those in question.

Reports indicated Sane was involved in a brief physical encounter with one of the alleged culprits. However, it wasn't long before security stepped in to deescalate the situation.

Sane spent four years at the Etihad Stadium before leaving Pep Guardiola's squad in July 2020. He returned to Germany after Bayern agreed a deal for his services worth up to £50million.

Sane left Die Roten on a free transfer after seeing out the end of his Bayern contract following the FIFA Club World Cup. His career in Turkey has yet to really take flight, though the forward has impressed in parts with one goal and three assists from his first nine appearances.

That being said, the club currently sit first in the Super Lig standings and are favourites to defend their crown. Sane left Munich despite making 48 appearances under Vincent Kompany last term, appearing from the bench in 22 of those outings across all competitions.

And it's reported Sane spent a portion of the day with his former manager. Bayern players are regular attendees at Oktoberfest and traditionally wear lederhosen to see in the festivities.

Bayern talisman and England frontman Harry Kane attended the festival with his wife, Kate. And the duo encountered no problems of their own as Harry posted on Instagram, dubbing it the "perfect finish to the week."

Sane won the Premier League on two occasions at City, as well as clinching two FA Cups and three Carabao Cups.
