Liam Rosenior faces nightmare Man City scenario as Chelsea star risks Premier League ban

Liam Rosenior will be on tenterhooks when Chelsea lock horns with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Moises Caicedo will miss Chelsea's clash against Manchester United if he's shown a yellow card this weekend. The 24-year-old midfielder is expected to captain the Blues when they face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Caicedo has been booked nine times in the Premier League this season. If the Ecuador international receives a 10th when Chelsea lock horns with Pep Guardiola's side, then he'll be given a two-game ban.

According to The FA's disciplinary rules, players who accumulate 10 yellow cards in matches up to and including their club's 32nd fixture of the English top-flight campaign will serve a two-match suspension in the same competition.

So, had Caicedo been cautioned during the defeat to Everton just before the international break, he would've missed the clashes against Manchester City and Manchester United. Fortunately for Liam Rosenior, though, the Ecuadorian escaped punishment at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If Caicedo were to be cautioned on Sunday afternoon, he would be ineligible for selection when the Blues face the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, April 18, and Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday, April 21.

Regardless of whether the Chelsea star earns a ban for his 10th yellow card of the Premier League season, he's still in danger of further sanctioning. The FA's disciplinary rules also state that players who accumulate 15 yellow cards in matches up to and including the last day of the same playing campaign will be issued a three-match suspension in the English top-flight.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.

Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.

Yellow cards in the Premier League do not carry over to either of the domestic cup competitions. But when a player is shown a red card, they are carried over to and from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

With Reece James out and Enzo Fernández serving an in-house suspension, Caicedo is expected to lead Chelsea out when they face Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. Cole Palmer could also don the armband, having done so in last week's win over Port Vale.

Speaking to club media after booking the Blues a place in the FA Cup semi-final, the England international looked ahead to the clash against his former side. Palmer said: "The gaffer has said it needs to be a perfect week.

"Everyone needs to be on it. Every time you win, it’s nice. Losing those four games was not good, and it’s fair to say that confidence was down. It’s natural for it to go down.

"But the win [against Port Vale] meant everyone was happy, and now we’ve got a clear week and we need to have a good game on Sunday. We’re looking forward to it – it should be a good one."
