Liam Rosenior fires Chelsea players stern warning as 'very simple' non-negotiable revealed

Liam Rosenior has put his foot down ahead of Chelsea’s clash against West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon

Liam Rosenior has described Chelsea’s clash against West Ham as the ‘biggest game of the season’. The 41-year-old, who has won five of his first six games in charge of the Blues, is determined to build upon Wednesday night’s dramatic win over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite becoming the first team to beat Antonio Conte’s side at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in over a year, Rosenior hasn’t taken his eye off the ball. The Blues boss believes the real test of his players’ mentality will be at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

"Tomorrow [vs West Ham] is the biggest game of the season, it’s very simple," said Rosenior. "I am going to find out so much. We’re in a good place. If you want to be a consistent winning team, these are the games where you have to step forward and not be complacent.

"After an away win in Italy, to come back three days later, I want to see the consistency levels of the group, that’s why this is a massive marker of where we’re really at."

Chelsea have won their last four Premier League games against the Hammers by an aggregate score of 15-2. Meanwhile, West Ham have waltzed away victorious from just one of their last 19 top-flight games against the Blues, losing each of their last five.

Rosenior added: "It's not about how important it is for me; it's important for the club. I'm part of a team, part of a club, and part of an organisation. I don't walk away from the game in Naples thinking, 'that was massive for me'.

"That’s not what it’s about. It’s massive that we got through. I don’t see life in that way. We need to keep winning games of football. My focus is now on West Ham.

"It’s not about a statement win or what people outside the club say about me. It doesn’t make any difference. I want to win every game that we play. The way to make people like you is to win."

Marc Cucurella has echoed the Chelsea boss’ sentiment. The 27-year-old defender believes that Rosenior has helped the Blues find their feet.

"You can always improve things, and you can do better," said Cucurella. "But in general, I think we are finding the right way again, winning ways, and hopefully, we can continue in this way until the end of the season.

"Playing against West Ham is always really tough. In the end, it is a London derby, and we always need to win.

"They are coming from two [league] wins in a row, and I think they’ve improved a lot. Hopefully, we can play this game, and we can win it.

"We are improving as well. We know better now what the head coach expects from us, what we can improve. Hopefully, we can play a really good game and take the three points."
