Chelsea losing 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion leaves Liam Rosenior facing further questions about his future at Stamford Bridge after five Premier League defeats in a row

Tim Sherwood believes Liam Rosenior will not survive as Chelsea head coach after their 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blues have now lost five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring, a run they last endured in the league over 113 years ago, during November 1912. Rosenior's side have just five points from their last nine games; only Tottenham Hotspur, with two, have fewer over that stretch.

Chelsea do not play in the league again for over a fortnight, with their FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium next up. By the time they kick-off agaist Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge, they could be as low as 14th.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the defeat at Brighton, Sherwood shared a damning assessment of their performance. He said: "They were outplayed in every way, in style, build-up, in possession, out of possession, it was a team playing a bunch of individuals, no spirit, no character.

"They were watching at the end there going over to the Chelsea fans - half of them had left the stadium 20 minutes ago. It's not only your ability, it's your desire to wear the shirt.

"It was embarrassing, the room that Brighton had. Liam Rosenior changed it at half-time, but he has to recognise that sooner.

Sherwood continued: "Three goals is the least Brighton deserved. I don't like saying it, there are demonstrations and flags out against BlueCo, Liam Rosenior will not survive this, he will not, unfortunately for him. It's a real tough job for any manager to survive this environment. Chelsea is a development club."

Rosenior called out the players afterwards, too, describing it as the worst defeat since taking over "by far". He said: "That was unacceptable in every aspect of the game, unacceptable in attitude, it was unacceptable in every aspect.

"I keep coming out to defend the players; that was indefensible tonight. Something needs to change drastically right now.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.

Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.

"We need to look in the mirror, I need to look in the mirror, but I can't keep coming out here and defending some of the things that we're seeing.

He added: "The general attitude, spirit was lacking - determination from three or four of the starting eleven, that's nowhere near enough for this club. I can't come out and lie; I tell the truth. That was an unacceptable performance at every level."
