Alejandro Garnacho is being linked with a move away from Chelsea after less than a season at Stamford Bridge
Alejandro Garnacho is being linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge less than one year after Chelsea splashed £40million on the Argentine's signature.
It was viewed as a gamble at the time, but one worth taking from the Blues' perspective, with £40m seen as a modest fee for a young winger with a high ceiling. There were questions, mostly from supporters, over Garnacho's attitude behind the scenes but Chelsea did their due diligence when it came to that and were satisfied with pursuing the negotiation with Manchester United.
However, as we approach the conclusion of his debut season at Stamford Bridge, Garnacho is being linked with a move away. While this is pure speculation at the moment, it will be interesting to see whether Chelsea give Garnacho another season at the club.

The 21-year-old winger has shown glimpses of what he can offer under both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior. In all competitions this season, where Garnacho has played 1935 minutes in 37 appearances, the former United wide man has contributed with eight goals - with only Pedro Neto (10), Joao Pedro (19) and Cole Palmer (10) scoring more this term (with the former two playing a lot more minutes).
Prior to Chelsea's win over Aston Villa last month, there was a lot of focus on Garnacho. Following Neto's red card at Arsenal, it was pretty clear Garnacho would be the man to replace the Portugal international in the side and journalists asked Rosenior multiple questions relating to the £40m signing.
From Rosenior's answer, it is clear he is a big fan of Garnacho: "Garna is a top player. We have changed a little bit tactically since I came in. I have wanted to dominate midfield areas, which has meant at times I have only played with one winger.
"But Garna is an outstanding player. What I have really liked in this period is his reaction to not starting. He has been training very, very well. He has shown real positivity."
Crucially, Rosenior was delighted with Garnacho's attitude which has been criticised heavily in the past. In that regard, he seems to have turned a corner at Chelsea. On the pitch, there are so many areas that can be improved but the fact is he continues to get the big chances. He may miss a few but it is certainly a positive that he is often the one getting them.
It will be intriguing to see what happens with Garnacho, as well as Jamie Gittens, if Chelsea do add another left-sided winger this summer. Geovany Quenda will arrive at the end of the season and the Sporting CP winger can play on either side, but the Blues may look to bolster their options even more on the flanks.

Bobby has been reporting on Chelsea since May 2022. In that time, he has been front and centre in perhaps the club's most turbulent time with Roman Abramovich forced to sell, with Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital buying the Blues. Bobby is a regular at press conferences and matches, where he speaks to Liam Rosenior and numerous Chelsea players.
