Liam Rosenior has provided an update on Reece James ahead of Chelsea's clash against Leeds United. The 26-year-old defender has missed each of the Blues' last two games across all competitions after picking up a knock.
Speaking to reporters at Cobham on Monday afternoon, the Chelsea boss confirmed that James has recovered from the injury. However, Rosenior added that the England international has recently fallen ill.
"Reece is fit," said the 41-year-old. "He is feeling unwell today. It's no conspiracy, it's the truth. Hopefully he'll be well enough for tomorrow."
Following the 3-1 win over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday evening, Rosenior claimed that James wasn't nursing a 'major problem'. The Chelsea boss said: "There's not a major problem at all, and it'd be great to have him available for Leeds on Tuesday.
"It's just a knock. It’s a pain management issue, and to be honest, Reece was out running yesterday, but just wasn't right, and it's not right.
"Again, we're still in the midst of a really, really difficult period of games for demo games that we've got. Hopefully, he comes back fully, fit, and fully rested for Tuesday."
