Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has shown his class during a live interview on TNT Sports, interrupting Laura Woods to send a heartfelt message to Blues supporters who had been hospitalised ahead of their Champions League game with Napoli.

Two Blues supporters were taken to the hospital on the eve of the west Londoners' vital Champions League fixture away to Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Prior to the match, Chelsea also warned fans about potential attacks on away supporters in the southern Italian city.

There has yet to be any official confirmation as to what precisely happened to the supporters. The club urged fans to remain aware of their surroundings before the match and to show "extreme caution."

On social media, the club wrote: "The club is aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday evening in Naples. Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

"The club would like to remind all supporters to exercise extreme caution whilst in the city and take note of the advice shared ahead of this fixture."

Speaking on TNT Sports ahead of kick off, Rosenior said: "Sorry, can I just say I wish… it’s important for me to say we had a couple of fans who ended up in hospital, supporting us, I wish them a speedy recovery and wish them all the best."

Joe Cole and Woods echoed those sentiments, and the former England midfielder said: "Good man, good man, us too."

While Woods added: "Really well said, Liam. We wish them all the best too."

The club did not provide any details about the circumstances leading to the fans being hospitalised. However, they did warn about the potential for attacks against supporters in the days running up to the match.

Fans were also warned not to wear any clothing which identified them as a Chelsea supporter whilst in the city before the match. There has also yet to be a statement from police forces in the city regarding the incident.

The fixture between Napoli and Chelsea carries enormous significance for both clubs. Rosenior's side require a victory, and potentially a substantial goal haul, to secure their place in the top eight.

Meanwhile, Napoli need three points to guarantee they can progress to the play-off stage. The encounter will also see Antonio Conte reunite with Chelsea in the Champions League for the first time.

He secured Serie A glory with Napoli last season, but has been battling to build momentum in the Champions League, claiming two victories, drawing twice and suffering three defeats from their fixtures.

Meanwhile, Rosenior has been forced to dismiss speculation that Cole Palmer has grown restless at Stamford Bridge, maintaining there is no substance to any suggestions the midfielder is seeking a departure from the club.
