Owen Cooper added a Golden Globe to his expanding list of honors, as he scooped the award for best supporting actor in a television series on Sunday.
The Liverpool fan shot to global fame with his breakthrough performance as a teenage murder suspect in the Netflix drama Adolescence. Upon discovering he had triumphed over formidable rivals to claim the coveted prize, Cooper said: "Standing here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through."
Cooper picked up the prize a day before Liverpool's FA Cup tie with Barnsley. He added: "What started off as what I thought I might be ok at, I might be awful at, I took a risk, and I went to drama classes. I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing, but I got through it."

I wouldn't be here without you guys. This is mad, what is going on?"
Cooper wrapped up his acceptance speech by declaring: "Bring on 2026. You'll never walk alone."
The 16-year-old Warrington native has been outspoken about his allegiance to Liverpool FC since rising to prominence last year. In the third episode of Adolescence, a message can be spotted etched into a table where Cooper's character is sitting.

Speaking at Anfield last season, he revealed the story behind this choice: "So, Phil (Barantini, the director_ gave a pencil to all the crew, and we could all draw something or write something. And I wrote, 'LFC > MUFC' - and it stayed in! Phil kept it in."
Linda Pizzuti Henry, wife of Liverpool FC's principal owner John Henry, shared Cooper's acceptance speech on her own Instagram account, praising the actor. She wrote: "Owen Cooper closed his Golden Globes acceptance speech with, 'You'll Never Walk Alone.' YNWA Owen! Congratulations on Best Supporting Actor win for the remarkable show, Adolescence."
Supporters also flooded social media with congratulatory messages following the incredible achievement.
One supporter wrote: "So well deserved! Such an incredible performance."
While another added: "Top lad! Best fans in the world."
Additional responses included: "YNWA. Well done, Owen" - and: "I'm so excited to see Owen Cooper in Wuthering Heights. That boy is going to go places."
Beyond Cooper's accolade, the Netflix drama garnered further acclaim. Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty maintained Adolescence's triumphant run throughout awards season as they all collected prizes at the Golden Globes.
Graham was awarded best actor in a TV mini-series, while Doherty clinched the title of best supporting actress. The show also bagged the award for limited series, anthology series or television motion picture.
