Young Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas has signed for Hull City on loan for the rest of the season after his temporary switch to Birmingham City was cut short earlier this week.

Koumas made a decent impression at St Andrews but was mainly used off the bench rather than from the start. With the Wales international looking for more game time ahead of the World Cup this summer, a change made sense.

Additionally, Birmingham City has signed Carlos Vicente, August Priske and Ibrahim Osman to bolster its attack this month. Koumas heads to a Hull side chasing promotion to the Premier League, which has already helped develop the likes of Tyler Morton, Fabio Carvalho and Liam Delap.

"I wanted to do it (Koumas) in the summer; he was my first option but unfortunately he chose Birmingham," Jakirovic told BBC Radio Humberside.

"He has a lot of potential as a young player with a lot of experience in this league for his age — 42 games for Stoke last season and this season with Birmingham."

Elsewhere, Liverpool defender Calum Scanlon is also being eyed for a Championship loan ahead of Monday's deadline. Cardiff City is among the clubs hoping to bring him in, though he starts for the Reds' U21s today against Brighton.

"Obviously I know Calum from Liverpool, but it’s getting late in the window," Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy said.

"While we’ve been pretty transparent about areas of the squad that we need to improve, when it gets this late we can’t have any guarantees or certainty that anybody will come to the club before the window shuts on Monday."

In terms of incomings, Arne Slot is expecting things to be quiet at the end of the winter window for Liverpool. The Reds will, as ever, only sign a player if it fits their long-term ambitions.

"I think you know the answer," Slot said when he was asked about it during his press conference.

"The answer is if we think we've addressed a player that can help us and we think it's possible, then we would do so.

"But those are conversations that take place not far away from here, by the way, but not in this room."

Liverpool has already signed Noah Adekoya from Burnley. The Reds also wrapped up a deal for Mor Talla Ndiaye.
