Liverpool could sanction an exit for a member of Arne Slot’s squad if it reaches a deal for Lutsharel Geertruida before the end of the transfer window.
The Reds are in talks over signing the Netherlands international defender before tomorrow’s deadline. Geertruida is currently on loan at Sunderland, meaning Liverpool is currently in discussions with both the Black Cats and RB Leipzig.
If the 25-year-old is to make the move to Anfield, Sunderland would need to agree to terminate his season-long stay in the north-east, with the Stadium of Light club looking to get a replacement and compensation before letting him go.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, there is an agreement in place with the player, while Leipzig is expected to give the green light for him to join Liverpool.
What’s more, The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that Sunderland is close to an agreement for a replacement, with Geertruida’s move to Liverpool rated as “75%” likely to go through.

Should the Reds get their man, then it could open the door for one of Slot’s current players to be on the move away from Anfield. According to James Pearce, Calvin Ramsay could head out on loan before the end of the window, with interest coming from the Championship for the Scotland international.
Ramsay has been a regular feature in Liverpool’s matchday squads this season, although he has only made one senior appearance so far this season in the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
Although both Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley are out injured, Slot has indicated there are other players still ahead of Ramsay in the pecking order to start at right-back, with Dominik Szoboszlai having filled in against Newcastle on Saturday.

What’s more, Ramsay’s departure would free up a spot in Liverpool’s squad for a non-homegrown player, allowing Geertruida to take his place.
Premier League rules allow teams to name a maximum of 25 players in their senior squads, as long as eight of those qualify as homegrown. Liverpool named a 24-man squad at the start of the season, including seven homegrown players.
Ramsay was not eligible as one of those seven, with players needing to have been registered with an English club for at least three continuous seasons before the age of 21. Having moved to Liverpool in 2022 from Aberdeen, Ramsay therefore has to take one of the non-homegrown spots.
The 22-year-old has been out on loan on four occasions already since joining Liverpool, having had spells at Preston, Bolton, Wigan and Kilmarnock, and will be aiming to gain some regular playing time after numerous injury problems over the years.
