Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey agrees with Jamie Carragher’s assessment that the Reds are in crisis following their defeat to Brentford.
Arne Slot’s side fell to its fourth straight league defeat on Saturday, further damaging its hopes of retaining its Premier League title. Liverpool has already recorded as many defeats as it did for the entirety of last season, having fallen seven points behind current leader Arsenal after previously holding a five-point advantage over the Gunners.
Concerns over the club’s signings during a major summer overhaul have only grown in recent weeks, with little sign of improvement despite an emphatic 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last week.
That has been the Reds’ only victory in their last six games though, and they were deserving of their latest defeat to Brentford, with Slot even admitting afterward that it may have been the worst under his stewardship.
The current situation has seen some pundits suggest that Liverpool is at crisis point now, with Heskey the latest to agree.
“We don’t like to use that word, but what other word can you use?” Heskey told 10bet Casino.
“We’ve never seen anything like this at Liverpool for a long time. We talked about it, and now we need to know what to do to change it.
“How do Liverpool turn it around? How do Liverpool pick themselves up and go again?
“They need to create more chances. They’re creating some, but not on the scale they were last season. Then they need to be really clinical to finish those chances as well.”
Heskey’s comments come after his former Liverpool teammate Carragher outlined the severity of the club’s predicament, and gave some insight into what the mood will be like inside the locker room at the moment.

“Losing four games in a row for Brentford would be a disaster,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“To see the champions do it with the expenditure in the summer means we're in crisis time for Liverpool right now.
“There will be a lot of serious questions asked in the dressing room between the players and the coaching staff and the people above the manager. When they've looked at what they've spent, they'll be looking for a lot more.
“Liverpool have to look at the physicality and height within their team because, right now, I don't think they have enough.”
