Liverpool fans discover extortionate prices for World Cup final tickets

1 hour ago 18

Soccer fans hoping to catch the World Cup final at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium next year could find themselves forking out more than $6,000 for a general admission ticket.

Liverpool, of course, will not be playing in the iconic international tournament. But many Reds supporters will be at the event supporting their country while club soccer takes a break during the summer of 2026. Countless Liverpool players will also be in action, with Alexis Mac Allister helping Argentina win the previous World Cup in Qatar three years ago.

FIFA has kept ticket prices under wraps, only revealing that the most affordable tickets would begin at $60. However, a lucky handful of fans who won the first ticket lottery got a glimpse of the full price list on Wednesday. The $60 tickets are limited in quantity and only available for group stage matches.

Ticket costs fluctuate based on whether a host nation - the United States, Canada, or Mexico - is playing, and also by location. Group stage tickets start at $60 but can skyrocket to $2,735 for the priciest ticket to the USA's opening match in Los Angeles.

For matches not featuring a host nation, the costliest group stage tickets are found in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New Jersey.

A category one ticket for these games will set you back $620.

Prices remain fairly steady for the last 32 and last 16 rounds, but begin to climb from the quarterfinal stage onwards. The least expensive tickets for the quarter-final clash in Los Angeles will cost $410, while the most expensive are priced at $1,690.

The semifinals in Dallas and Atlanta see ticket prices ranging from $420 to $2,780.

For the grand finale, category four tickets are set to begin at $2,030. The price then leaps to $2,790 for category three. Category two tickets are pegged at $4,210 before reaching the pinnacle with category one tickets priced at a hefty $6,370.

This means that Liverpool supporters making their way to the United States, Mexico, and Canada next year will be at the mercy of the draw when it comes to ticket prices.

England could potentially be accompanied by some of its home nation counterparts.

Both Northern Ireland and Scotland currently occupy second place in their qualifying groups, while Wales sits in third position, just a single point away from the top spot.

A total of 48 teams will take part in the tournament next year. The United States, Canada, and Mexico have all qualified as host nations.

Australia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Tunisia, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, and New Zealand are the other nations to qualify to date.

Jordan and Uzbekistan will make their World Cup debuts at the tournament.
