Liverpool wants fans to vote on the 100 greatest players to represent the club, with the poll open until the end of April. The list includes 12 of Arne Slot's current first-team squad

Liverpool is calling fans to select the club’s 100 all-time greatest players. The Reds announced the news on Monday, with a new poll set up for supporters to cast their vote on the top players to represent the club.

Fans were first asked to choose 20 years ago with a vote of “100 Players Who Shook the Kop”. A second edition was held in 2013, with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher climbing the ranks.

Thirteen years on, and with two more league titles clinched and three further Champions League final appearances, the club wants to update its records to recognize the successes of the last decade under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.

That will almost certainly include the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Alisson, earning places high on Liverpool's rankings.

Fans can select 25 players in a poll that contains 250 current and ex-Reds. That will form a list of Liverpool’s top 100 players ever.

Voting is open until April 30 and the results will be confirmed this summer, with the final top 10 unveiled in July.

Liverpool said “voters should consider an individual's ability, impact, success and legacy during their Liverpool playing career”.

After supporters make their selections, the former players' association Forever Reds and journalists will decide the final list of 100.

Of Slot’s current squad, Alisson, Conor Bradley, Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Salah and Cody Gakpo are included in the list of nominees.

None of the Reds’ summer arrivals, such as Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz have been selected.

In the 2013 edition, Gerrard finished first ahead of Sir Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush. Robbie Fowler, Luis Suarez, Carragher and John Barnes made up the top seven.
