Liverpool fans get glimpse into future with Gary Neville's Alexander Isak prediction

3 weeks ago 9

Gary Neville has expressed his fears for the remainder of the Premier League, claiming Liverpool will net a "bucket load" of goals once Alexander Isak arrives at the club.

After one of the most dramatic transfer sagas in Premier League history, the Reds have finally agreed a deal with Newcastle to bring the Swedish striker to Anfield. Their opening bid was rejected at the start of August, but Newcastle's determination weakened under Isak's persistent efforts to force through his exit.

The expected signing of the Sweden international follows the Reds' triumph over Arsenal on Sunday - a result that has lifted them two points clear at the summit after three matches.

Speaking on his self-titled podcast after Liverpool's victory against Mikel Arteta's team, Neville disclosed his concern for Liverpool's competitors that the Reds' attacking threat is set to reach extraordinary heights with Isak's arrival.

"If Isak comes in, they're going to score an absolute bucket load of goals," Neville said.

The 25-year-old is set to sign a six-year deal with the Reds and becomes the second forward to join the club after Liverpool's signing of French striker Hugo Ekitike in July.

The Reds secured victories against Bournemouth at Anfield and Newcastle at St. James' Park before overcoming Arsenal, with Neville believing they're ideally placed to build momentum this campaign, especially if they can finalize a deal for Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi ahead of Monday's deadline.

"The two games they've just played - they have a right battle at St James' Park and to come out of there with a victory was incredible," Neville added.

"To do this today, that must give them massive confidence.

"If they can get Isak and Guehi through the door, they're two starting players.

"Isak is one of the top centre-forwards in the world. He's a real player.

"He's the one player I've seen give [William] Saliba and Gabriel and Virgil van Dijk a real hard time over the last couple of seasons.

"He's really caused them problems. He's a different-level player.

"Isak coming into that team today, with Guehi coming in as well - for Liverpool to be on nine points with the two games they've had and think those two could be entering the building off the back end of the international break, they'll be absolutely buzzing and confident as hell."
