Liverpool final Premier League points tally predicted after sealing Alexander Isak transfer

1 day ago 32

As the first international break of the season commences, Liverpool's final Premier League position has been forecasted. The Reds have had a perfect start to the season, securing three victories from three matches and are the only team with nine points heading into the first pause of the campaign.

Arne Slot's squad entered the international break on a high note, following a 1-0 victory over anticipated title contenders Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday. Dominik Szoboszlai netted the sole goal of the match with a long-range free-kick, ensuring the three points for Liverpool.

Liverpool now sets its sights on their return to top-tier action post the international break, where they will face Burnley on 14 September. This will be succeeded by the commencement of the new Champions League season, kicking off with a home opener against Atletico Madrid.

Despite only three matches being played so far, Opta Analyst has made a prediction for the final table standings. After crunching the numbers, they believe that Liverpool will retain their Premier League title.

The forecast suggests that Liverpool will conclude with 79 points (79.02) after 38 matches. This is sufficient to secure the title ahead of Arsenal, who are predicted to finish second with 73 points (73.11) this term.

Chelsea are predicted to secure third place with 67 (66.86) points, followed by Manchester City (64.3) in fourth, and Crystal Palace potentially qualifying for the Champions League with a fifth-place finish on 61 (60.56) points.

Meanwhile, Sunderland, Burnley and Wolves are the clubs expected to face relegation to the Championship.

These predictions follow the closure of the summer transfer window on Monday night. Liverpool managed to sign Alexander Isak on deadline day, but missed out on securing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

Speaking after his arrival at Anfield, Isak said: "I’ve had a tricky summer where I haven’t played any games and I’ve had restricted training, so I think that’s one to judge and to analyse where I am at and how much I am ready to give. But I certainly want to play as soon as possible.

"I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.

"It has been a long summer but I’m just looking forward, not looking at the past. It’s done now and I know I can get back to doing what I love the most. Really looking forward to it."
