Liverpool finds out what it's missing after Harvey Elliott exit - 'Creativity'

6 hours ago 3

Morgan Rogers is eagerly anticipating the chance to develop on-field partnerships with Aston Villa's deadline day acquisitions, Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott.

Both talents have arrived on season-long loan deals, though Villa is poised to secure Elliott permanently, having agreed a £35 million ($47 million) obligation to purchase with Liverpool. Villa will shoulder 80 percent of Sancho's salary, with the Manchester United winger linking up at Bodymoor Heath alongside Victor Lindelof, who completed a free transfer on Monday.

The trio could all feature in their Villa bow against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, September 13, after the international break concludes.

Villa attacker Rogers, presently on duty with his nation during World Cup qualifiers, reckons the lure of next summer's tournament will be a powerful incentive for newcomers Sancho and Elliott to flourish under Unai Emery.

"Knowing them both - Harvey pretty well in England age groups - I think it's exciting, and playing with England players who have a point to prove, in the sense that they will want to be in the England squad too, playing with them at a club level will help," said Rogers, giving Liverpool a glimpse of what it's missing after letting Elliott walk out of Anfield.

"It will also help them because the environment in our group and club is really good.

"I'm looking forward to getting back and playing with them, especially."

"Creativity - both of them," Rogers responded when questioned about what the pair would bring.

"They play with freedom, and they get fans off their seats.

"Ultimately, that's exciting, especially as an attacker too. It will be really nice to play with them, so hopefully it clicks and connects really well."

Speaking after joining Villa, Elliott said: "It feels incredible.

"I want to say a big thank you for making this happen. Playing for a massive club like Aston Villa is every kid's dream. I can't wait to get started. To be an Aston Villa player is an incredible feeling."

Elliott added: "For me now, it's about kicking on as a player.

"The only way to do that is by playing games, and there's no better place to do that than here - especially with this manager, his philosophy, and the way he plays."
