Simon Jordan has urged Liverpool to "get rid" of Mohamed Salah after his outburst.
The 33-year-old hit the headlines on Saturday after accusing Liverpool of throwing him "under the bus" and claiming that he no longer has a relationship with manager Arne Slot. Salah trained with his teammates on Monday but will not travel to Italy for the Champions League game against Inter Milan, which takes place on Tuesday.
The veteran forward's future at Anfield now seems uncertain; he continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan has advised Liverpool to cash in on Salah in January and put this saga to bed.
"I think it is a negotiation," said Jordan. "Something has gone on behind the scenes, and he is negotiating with the club.
"The best thing Liverpool can do now is get rid while there is still some money attached to him. It is simple. Whether it is in January or the summer, he is gone."
Jordan then compared Salah's outburst to Cristiano Ronaldo's famous interview with Piers Morgan in 2022. On the eve of the World Cup in Qatar, the Portuguese forward criticized Manchester United, then manager Erik ten Hag, and several club legends.
Ronaldo never played for United again and joined Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr after the World Cup. Jordan believes this episode is similar to Ronaldo's exit from United, but he thinks Liverpool will be able to get a transfer fee for Salah.
Jordan added: "Ultimately, it is similar to Ronaldo when he engineered an exit from Manchester United, but the Ronaldo tribute act that turned up at Old Trafford isn't the player that Salah is now.
"There is still some economic value in Salah, and if I am Liverpool, I am looking to sell him and get some money, if the Saudis want him.
"Whatever has gone on isn't likely to be healed. When big players and big reputations decide it is not for them, this is what a modern footballer does.
"He has been a wonderful player for Liverpool, and I think it has run its course. He was given a two-year deal, and now you have a player who doesn't want to be there, so get rid."
Salah will head off to the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15, as Egypt tries to win the tournament. Liverpool has two games between now and then: the clash against Inter, which Salah will not play in, and Saturday's Premier League game against Brighton.
It's unclear whether Salah will be involved against Brighton at the weekend.
Slot is expected to give an update on the situation when he speaks to the press on Monday.
