There are similarities between the exits of the Liverpool legends, with Salah's departure on a free coming a little less than a year from Alexander-Arnold's decision to run down his contract

Liverpool will not repeat the same mistake made with Trent Alexander-Arnold and will reportedly look to extend Curtis Jones' contract soon.
Danny Murphy believes Mohamed Salah will not face the same wrath from Liverpool supporters as Trent Alexander-Arnold experienced last year.
The Liverpool winger announced on Tuesday that he is set to leave the club this summer following what has been an underwhelming ninth campaign at Anfield for the Egyptian. Salah has managed just 10 goals in all competitions, and his performances have drawn criticism in recent months.
Given his public disagreement with Arne Slot in December, for various reasons, the time feels right for Salah to draw a line under his Liverpool career, a little over a year from Alexander-Arnold’s bombshell decision to depart.

Ironically, Alexander-Arnold did command a small fee for Real to buy out his contract early and allow him to play in the Club World Cup, whereas Salah’s agreement with Liverpool will see him leave for nothing at the end of the campaign.
Murphy, who spent seven years of his career at Liverpool, feels fans will judge Salah and Alexander-Arnold differently, and claims supporters will be more forgiving of the Egyptian.

“I think it has been more magnified because he hasn't scored the goals. I don't think he has ever been blessed with an amazing work ethic defensively, but it has been brushed under the carpet because of what he has done going the other way,” Murphy said on talkSPORT, when asked about Salah’s impact on the team.
“If he was scoring the same goals and doing the same things as last season, he wouldn't want to leave and Liverpool wouldn't be agreeing to it. It suits both parties.
“Obviously, there is admiration coming from the fans but most supporters are okay with it. They have seen a drop off this season.”

Pushed on the comparison with Alexander-Arnold, the ex-Charlton and Fulham man added: “It is different.
“We don't know what has happened with the Salah situation - whether he has pushed it or the club or if it's a mutual thing.
“Mo is at the end of his career. Trent was in his prime; he's a scouser, he is going to another club who will compete with Liverpool.
“Mo Salah is not going to go anywhere where he is competing with Liverpool. He has given nine years of service to the club.”
