Liverpool has made head start on next summer's transfer window in PSR bonus

Liverpool's summer transfer dealings may be wrapped up, but there's already a deal in the pipeline for next year.

The Reds have welcomed several new faces and bid farewell to key squad members, including Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, among others. Deadline day was abuzz with talk of potential signings Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi, but there were also outgoing deals being finalized.

Harvey Elliott has departed Anfield for Aston Villa following months of speculation about his future on Merseyside. Elliott has been linked with a move away from Liverpool for some time, with RB Leipzig expressing interest throughout the summer.

However, it was Villa who swooped in to secure Elliott on loan for the rest of the season.

The agreement includes an obligation for Villa to make Elliott's move permanent next summer.

The Birmingham club will sign him outright for £35 million ($47 million) when the summer transfer window reopens next year.

This means that Elliott's permanent switch to Villa will be the first official transfer of next summer. It could also significantly aid Liverpool's financial planning for next year and any subsequent transfers it aims to finalize.

After splashing out more than $500 million on fresh talent this summer, knowing it'll receive £35million with a year's notice will provide a significant boost to Liverpool's budget for next year.

It remains uncertain what deals the Reds will aim to finalize in 2026, but the extra funds from Elliott's sale will certainly provide a significant boost for potential new signings.

Elliott penned an emotional, lengthy statement to Liverpool after his departure was confirmed on Monday.

His statement ended: "To the incredible Liverpool fans.

"Thank you for making me one of your own and for always supporting me through both good and tough times. I’ll always cherish the bond we have together. I will always have Liverpool in my heart.

"It’s now time for a new challenge. I am incredibly ambitious and feel that at this stage of my career, it’s important to be in an environment where I’m able to have the opportunity to play and progress as much as possible.
