Liverpool is facing a delicate decision over Curtis Jones as interest from Inter and Tottenham grows, with the midfielder’s role becoming increasingly uncertain amid fierce competition and limited opportunities this season.
Jones has been linked with a surprise move to Inter Milan ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, but Liverpool is understood to have no plans to let players leave this window. With Arne Slot’s squad already thin in certain areas — particularly in midfield — selling any senior player before the deadline would be a significant risk.
Inter has reportedly held direct talks with Jones’ representatives, with the England international reportedly “intrigued” by the prospect of a switch to the Serie A side.

The England midfielder’s contract runs until June 2027, and the club has made it clear he will not be allowed to go out on loan unless he agrees to a new deal.
Jones, having just 18 months remaining on his contract, means Liverpool faces a pivotal decision over his future. With interest from clubs such as Inter and Tottenham, ensuring he remains committed will likely become a priority once the current season concludes.

Jones’ development and potential make him a valuable asset, but time is running short to secure his long-term future at Anfield.
Liverpool should probably look to open talks over a contract renewal in the summer, aiming to lock him down before his deal enters its final year.
Keeping Jones on board would give Slot more continuity in midfield and protect the squad from the risk of losing a talented player on a free transfer, while also sending a clear message to potential suitors that the Reds are determined to retain their homegrown talent, learning from the mistakes of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Jones has been an important figure under Slot since the Dutchman’s arrival. After missing time midweek due to illness, he returned to training today and could feature in Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle.
This season, Jones has started 10 Premier League games and made a further 10 appearances off the bench, alongside six outings in the Champions League.
Slot has indicated he expects a relatively quiet conclusion to the transfer window for Liverpool.
"I think you know the answer: the answer is if we think we've addressed a player that can help us and we think it's possible, then we would do so," he said during a press conference.
"But those are conversations that take place not far away from here, by the way, but not in this room."
