It's claimed that Liverpool has thwarted Nottingham Forest's attempts to sign Davide Frattesi after preventing Curtis Jones' departure to the San Siro.
The Reds academy product had attracted interest from Italy, with Inter Milan keen to secure the 25-year-old's services. It has been suggested that Jones' switch to the San Siro was crucial in enabling Frattesi to make his Premier League move, with Sean Dyche's outfit pushing hard for his signature.
The Italy international was reportedly keen on the transfer, but Inter would only approve an exit if Liverpool gave the green light to Jones' departure. But the Reds blocked discussions from advancing.

It has been suggested that the midfielder doesn't view himself as part of the Dutchman's plans at Anfield and is eager to make the switch to Milan.
Jones managed just six minutes during Saturday's crucial 4-1 victory over Newcastle, marking his return after missing the 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag through illness.

When questioned about a potential exit for Jones, Slot remarked: "I think there's always lots of talks about Liverpool and lots of talks about the Liverpool players.
"There was a lot of noise around the club the last week, maybe I should say weeks. I think our fans showed today what noise really means, that's being loud because they were so helpful today. So that is what what noise here is in Liverpool.
"I think we are trying to strengthen the squad and not trying to weaken it. But yeah, 48 hours or something, I don't know how long to go. So let's see where the window ends up."
Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday that Frattesi will not depart Italy, and the arrangement with Forest was proposed after Jones' departure was prevented.
Forest was in the middle of completing an agreement with the 26-year-old Italian to secure him on loan with an option to purchase.
He has endured a limited role under Cristian Chivu this campaign as Inter maintains an eight-point advantage at the summit of Serie A. Frattesi has managed just 12 appearances in the division but played for an hour in the team's 2-0 victory over Cremonese.
Inter president Beppe Marotta stated: "As we have always said, we don't want to hold back any player who wants to go elsewhere.
"Frattesi has never expressed the desire to leave, of course everyone wants more playing time, but he will have the chance during the season to show what he can do."
