Liverpool injury latest and possible return dates including Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot may have received a welcome injury update following the Reds' crushing 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup - although some more bad news has also emerged.

The Reds chief made wholesale changes for Oliver Glasner's team's visit, fielding just a smattering of senior players and opting for a youthful lineup in the fixture.

Nevertheless, the Palace reverse means Liverpool has now suffered defeat in six of its previous seven matches across all competitions; its sole victory during that spell came via the recent 5-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Throughout that encounter, Slot was handed several injury concerns. Both Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong were withdrawn during the clash in Germany, whilst Ryan Gravenberch was ruled out of the fixture entirely.

Here is the current injury situation and prospective comeback dates ahead of Liverpool's clash with Aston Villa at the weekend...

Ryan Gravenberch

The Netherlands star sustained a hamstring problem whilst on international duty before damaging his ankle in the reverse against Manchester United earlier this month, and has gone on to miss the Reds' three subsequent games.

What Slot said on October 29: "Ryan has a good chance [of being back for the weekend]. The other ones, let's wait and see."

Possible return date: November 1st.

Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak was completely missing from the matchday squad for Liverpool's recent reverse to Brentford and was also absent for the Carabao Cup encounter after coming off against Frankfurt with a groin problem.

What Slot said on October 24: "Alex (Isak) is not too bad. He is a question mark for the weekend - let's see where he is."

Possible return date: November 1st.

Jones reported a groin issue during Saturday night's loss to Brentford, and his participation in Saturday's match against Villa remains uncertain.

What Slot said on October 25: "We have to wait and see. He asked to be taken off, but he walked off instead of needing a lot of treatment, so I have to wait and see. There are a lot of games - in three or four days, there is another one."

Possible return date: Unknown.

Jeremie Frimpong

The Dutch international sustained a hamstring injury early in Liverpool's victory over Frankfurt, and it appears he won't be back in action anytime soon, with the Daily Mail reporting he now faces a six-week layoff.

What Slot said on October 24: "Jeremie is not in a good place. He's definitely not going to play today, tomorrow, or next week. His hamstring injury is going to take a while."

Possible return date: December.

Alisson has hinted that he's nearing a comeback from the thigh injury that saw him substituted in the loss to Galatasaray in the Champions League last month.

What Slot said on October 9th: "He's not training with us, so he's out. Like I always say, it's so difficult to say [how long he will be out], because the end phase of rehab can always give you positives and negatives. But he will not play this weekend, and also not next week."

Possible return date: November 9.

Giovanni Leoni

The young Italian defender is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury in the last round of the Carabao Cup against Southampton.

What Slot said on September 26: "He is not in a good place because he tore his ACL, which means he will be out around a year. Being so young and coming to a new country and playing so well in your first game, it's very hard to take the positives. But you try to look at that, and that is that he is still so young, and he has so many years still to go after he recovers."

Possible return date: 2026.
