The Reds could welcome back four players later this month, but are still contending with three long-term injury concerns in Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leono

Joe Gomez and Jeremie Frimpong are among Liverpool's injury issues
Liverpool’s ongoing injury issues have intensified the club’s transfer links this month, particularly in defense, where the club is light on options.
Injuries to Joe Gomez and Jeremie Frimpong in the last week meant the Reds explored a deal for Lutsharel Geertruida in the final days of the midseason window, but with Sunderland struggling to find a replacement in the late stages of the market, the move was scuppered.
There remain plenty of injury issues for Slot to contend with, especially with youngster Amara Nallo named on the bench to face Newcastle United. Here’s the latest on the Reds’ asentees and when they could return.

Sustained a hip problem against Bournemouth at the end of last month and has missed the last two games as a result. Slot said last week that he is not expecting the injury to be a long-term issue, and he may even be in line to feature against Manchester City on Sunday.
Possible return date: February 8
Jeremie Frimpong
Was replaced with a groin issue after just three minutes against Qarabag and missed the win over Newcastle as a result. Speaking ahead of that game, Slot said: “He is out for a few weeks. But [it’s] not as bad as we thought he would be out. It’s something positive from something not so positive.”
Frimpong’s exact return date is difficult to predict, but next weekend seems like the most optimistic bet, or the following week.

Alexander Isak
Slot confirmed last Friday that the striker has only recently finished using his walker and is not due to return from his broken leg any time soon. Isak was spotted at the AXA Training Centre at the end of last week and watched the win over Newcastle at Anfield on Saturday.
Possible return date: March
Jayden Danns
The youngster has not played since September due to a hamstring injury, but is nearing a return to the first-team picture. Slot said on Friday that Danns would have been handed minutes in the team due to the injuries to Isak and Hugo Ekitike last month, and he is likely to play a part when fit again.
The forward is closing in on a return and could be available in the coming weeks.
Possible return date: End of February
Stefan Bajcetic
The academy graduate has not played this season, despite Slot’s decision to retain his services last summer.
Speaking about Bajcetic last week, the Liverpool head coach said: “He’s not training yet. So, he constantly gets close to the team and then he has a little setback and then comes close and has a little setback, so we’re hoping and expecting to have him very soon, again.”
Possible return date: End of February

Conor Bradley
Suffered a season-ending knee injury last month that required surgery. He is not expected back before the end of the season.
Possible return date: Next season
Giovanni Leoni
The Italian defender is in the same position as Bradley, although he was spotted in the club’s training video last week.
