As if losing a fourth league game in a row wasn’t bad enough for Liverpool, the Reds’ injury list grew a little longer at Brentford as yet another worry emerged.
Curtis Jones is the latest player to be added to the list, with as many as six players potentially missing for tomorrow’s Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace, with the injury situation certainly not helping at a time when Arne Slot could do with any sort of positives to draw upon.
Liverpool will be desperate for a win on Wednesday amid what has been a disastrous run of form, having fallen to a fourth straight league defeat on Saturday. The fixture list doesn’t offer any respite though, with Slot needing to monitor his squad closely.
Here is the latest on the injury front for Liverpool ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Crystal Palace…
Curtis Jones
The latest name to be added to the injury list, Jones had to be withdrawn in the 70th minute against Brentford with what looked to be a groin problem. With no press conference being held before tomorrow's game, we may not get an update on the midfielder's fitness until Slot speaks on TV, or possibly afterwards.
“We have to wait and see. He asked to be taken off," Slot said on Saturday. "He walked off instead of needing a lot of treatment so I have to wait and see.
“There are a lot of games. In four days, there is another one.”
Potential return date: Unknown.
Alexander Isak
Having been withdrawn with a groin problem against Eintracht Frankfurt, Alexander Isak then missed Saturday's game against Brentford, although Slot has suggested it won't be a problem that keeps him out for too long.
Like many of the club's summer additions, Liverpool's record signing hasn't yet found his feet, and his injury is a setback after missing a real pre-season back at Newcastle.
Potential return date: October 29 vs Crystal Palace.
Ryan Gravenberch
One of the few players who has really shone so far this season, Ryan Gravenberch has missed the last two games after twisting his ankle against Manchester United.
While it is hoped that the problem is nothing major, the midfielder may not be risked against Palace tomorrow, with Saturday's game against Aston Villa perhaps his most likely option.
Potential return date: November 1 vs Aston Villa.
Alisson Becker
Alisson's injury worries reared their ugly head again when he was forced off with a hamstring problem against Galatasary. Although the Reds have spent plenty on Giorgi Mamardashvili to come in as his deputy, the Brazilian's absence is still keenly felt.
And there isn't any clear indication of when he could return yet, despite having been seen in some footage from the AXA Training Centre recently. Slot suggested last Friday it could still be a while yet before we see Alisson back.
Potential return date: November.
Jeremie Frimpong
We won't see Jeremie Frimpong for at least a few weeks, with the right-back having picked up a hamstring injury in Frankfurt last week, and Slot confirming he is "not in a good place".

That will place a lot of pressure on Conor Bradley at right-back, especially with the Northern Ireland international having not had the best of starts to the season. Slot may have to look to the academy for an option tomorrow to take the strain off Bradley.
Potential return date: November/December.
Giovanni Leoni
Giovanni Leoni is almost certainly out for the rest of this season, with his campaign over before it had barely started, having been stretchered off after tearing his ACL on his debut against Southampton.
The young Italian has since undergone surgery, but it is highly likely he won't be able to return until next season now.
Potential return date: 2026/27 season.
