Liverpool injury latest and return dates including Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson

7 hours ago 34

As if Liverpool’s nightmare week couldn’t have been made any worse, Arne Slot has been handed two new injury scares following Saturday’s defeat at Chelsea.

The 2-1 reverse at Stamford Bridge saw the Reds fall to a third consecutive loss in all competitions, with Liverpool having fallen behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race as a result.

The majority of Slot’s players will now head off on international duty, with the October break perhaps coming at a good time for the Reds for once as they try to regroup and rediscover some of the form that led them to the title last season.

And Slot will no doubt be hoping for some good news on the injury front over the next week or so. Here is the latest on Liverpool’s injury situation heading into the international break…

Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate had another disappointing game at Stamford Bridge before he was substituted early on in the second half. At the time, it looked as though it might have been a tactical change from Slot, although the Liverpool boss revealed afterward that there was more to it.

"What I do know is that he limped," Slot said. "He felt his quad a little bit. For me, alarm bells go off because in another sprint, you never know. It was already a sub I had in mind for a little later.

"It might be OK that he went off early enough, but it was clear I had to take him out because he was limping."

As things stand, Konate is due to report for international duty with France for games against Azerbaijan and Iceland. Whether this will change anything remains to be seen

Potential return date: All being well and he does head out on international duty, then he should be fine to face Manchester United on October 19.

Andy Robertson

Liverpool was handed another scare when Andy Robertson was seen hobbling at full-time, having seemingly been carrying a problem during the dying stages of the game against against Chelsea.

There is no official word on what the injury might be, although Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp wasn't too confident after what he saw.

"Looking at that injury at the end of the game, that's a real worry for them," Redknapp said. "I know they've got the international break, but that looked like a nasty one that he's picked up."

Potential return date: It's not clear yet what Robertson's problem was - we'll have to wait and see whether he goes away with Scotland during the international break.

Alisson Becker

Alisson is looking set for an extended spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury against Galatasaray. The 33-year-old has been left out Brazil's squad for the October international break, and it seems his absence will extend beyond that.

"I would be surprised if Alisson was there for the first game after the international break," Slot said on Friday.

Potential return date: Reports have suggested Alisson won't be able to return until after the November international break. The Reds' first game following that is against Nottingham Forest on November 22.

Giovanni Leoni

It's unlikely we will see Giovanni Leoni in action again this season. Having torn his ACL against Southampton in the Carabao Cup, the young defender underwent surgery last week.

"He is not in a good place of course because he tore his ACL so he will be out for around a year," Slot confirmed.

"Being so young, coming to a new country, playing so well in your first game, it is very hard to take a positive - there is no positive, but he is still so young, has so many years to go after he recovers from a terrible injury like that."

Potential return date: There's almost no chance we'll see Leoni again this season, so the Italian will be looking to the 2026/27 campaign to make his return.
