Manchester City host title rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, and Pep Guardiola would love to extend the gap to Arne Slot's side in the table before the international break
Manchester City face a demanding week in both the Champions League and Premier League. Pep Guardiola's side face back-to-back home games - Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening, followed by Liverpool on Sunday.
Just one point separates the two sides in the league, with both having dropped points in recent weeks. City will be aiming for back-to-back wins after their 3–1 victory over Bournemouth, while Liverpool ended a four-game winless run by beating Aston Villa last weekend.
Arne Slot's side will benefit from an extra day of rest, having edged Real Madrid 1–0 at Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Alexis Mac Allister scored the winner in Trent Alexander-Arnold's return to home turf.
Curtis Jones also returned after missing two games with adductor pain, but Slot is still managing several injury concerns ahead of the trip to Manchester.
So, with that being said, The Manchester Evening News has rounded up the latest Liverpool injury news and expected return dates ahead of the City showdown at the Etihad Stadium.
Alexander Isak
Slot confirmed that Isak could return to the squad for the City clash, having missed Liverpool's last four matches after picking up an injury in last month's Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Injury: Groin.
What Slot has said: "With Alex, we have to wait and see. Definitely not starting on Sunday, but maybe he can be involved in the squad."
Potential return date: November 9 (A) - Manchester City.
Jeremie Frimpong
Sunday's match may have come too soon for the 24-year-old right-back.
Injury: Hamstring.
What Slot has said: "Jeremie and Alisson will both also not be available for Sunday."
Potential return date: November 22 (H) - Nottingham Forest.
Alisson Becker
Injury: Hamstring.
What Slot has said: "Jeremie and Alisson will both also not be available for Sunday."
Potential return date: November 22 (H) - Nottingham Forest.
Giovanni Leoni
Injury: Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
What Slot has said: "He is not in a good place because he tore his ACL, which means he will be out around a year. Being so young and coming to a new country and playing so well in your first game, it's very hard to take the positives.
"But you try to look at that, and that is that he is still so young, and he has so many years still to go after he recovers."
Potential return date: Pre-season 2026.
