Young Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas continued his good start to life with Hull City in the Championship by netting in an important win over Derby County for the Tigers on Tuesday.

Koumas was previously on loan at Birmingham City, where he was mainly used as a substitute. In January, it was decided that he would be best served moving to Hull for more regular starts.

Though the Welsh international, who can play up front and out wide, is yet to start for Hull in the Championship, he has two goals in five substitute appearances. Koumas netted the winner on his debut against Blackburn Rovers.

Elsewhere, another Liverpool loanee, Vitezslav Jaros, has suffered a season-ending injury. The goalkeeper will have surgery, Ajax confirmed last week.

The Czech Republic international became a fixture in Amsterdam, recording 26 starts before sustaining the injury in training last week.

"This has an impact, let's put it that way," manager Fred Grim told ESPN. "It is never fun, but we just have to keep going. That's the reality. He was in a lot of pain. You still hope it's not too bad, but it didn't look good.

Ajax coach Fred Grim gave an update on Vitezslav Jaros's injury situation

"I've spoken to several players. Again, it's very annoying. But we have to keep going. Everyone knows that."

Twenty-four-year-old Jaros has become the third Liverpool player to endure a season-ending knee injury, alongside Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, whose seasons concluded in January and September respectively.

A statement from Ajax on February 20 read: "Ajax goalkeeper Viteslav Jaros has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

"The Amsterdam club's shot-stopper sustained a serious knee injury during training today. Medical examinations at the hospital have shown that surgery is required, meaning he will not feature again this season."

Things have not gone well for Harvey Elliott, either. The attacking midfielder is currently out injured, but when he returns, Unai Emery has already made clear that he doesn't want to sign the 22-year-old permanently.

Elliott's 10-game trigger to make the $47 million (£35 million) move happen at the end of the season, it emerged last week, only applies to Premier League games.

As a result, he could play in Europe without Emery committing to signing him. In the summer, Elliott will then have a decision to make on where his long-term future lies.
