PSG are focusing on youth in their center-back ranks, with Illia Zabarnyi joining the team this past summer transfer window. Still, the Parisians could encounter challenges in securing a previous target, especially after having success with fellow Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho.
Foot Mercato reported last May that Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez has attracted PSG’s attention. According to the outlet, Luis Campos and his recruitment team have been keeping a close eye on the Ecuadorian international, observing him several times before considering any concrete approach.
Club Brugge is said to value Ordóñez between €25 million and €30 million, and the report noted interest from Premier League sides as well. While no transfer has materialized yet, clubs are reportedly prepared to revisit the situation and continue monitoring the player.
Liverpool, Newcastle Eye PSG Summer Target

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke reports that Newcastle are aiming to edge out Liverpool and Aston Villa in the race to sign the Ecuadorian centre-back.
The challenge lies in the player’s current contract situation. O’Rourke notes that Brugge hold the upper hand in negotiations, able to demand top value if they decide to part ways with Ordóñez.

“Liverpool, obviously we know about their defensive issues. He’s been linked to Aston Villa who are also admirers of him and Newcastle as well have been keeping tabs on the Ecuador international’s situation.
“He’s done very well for Club Brugge, playing in the Champions League, playing at the highest level and has been outstanding for Ecuador in their successful qualification to the World Cup.
“There was obviously speculation around his future in the summer, but Brugge managed to keep hold of him and tied him down to a new contract in September that runs until 2029.”
