Liverpool news and transfers LIVE: Everton win, 5 players to miss Southampton, Guehi competition

2 hours ago 24

Liverpool has only played six times this season in all competitions but it has won every game and is currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Arsenal hosting Manchester City.

The latest win, of course, was against Everton, with Ryan Gravenberch excelling and Hugo Ekitike getting on the scoresheet again. Mohamed Salah impressed too, while Dominik Szoboszlai continued his good form.

Next up for the Reds is the visit of Southampton in the Carabao Cup. Arne Slot has already confirmed that five players won't play in that game, with wholesale changes to the starting XI expected.

And next up in the Premier League is a trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace, with a visit to Chelsea who lost to Manchester United on Saturday — also coming up before the October international break.

We'll have all the reaction from Liverpool 2-1 Everton right here, plus any other updates. Stick with us!

5 players to miss Southampton

Arne Slot has confirmed that he will make changes to his starting XI in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, with several players to get a rest in that competition.

"The ones that played three times 90 [minutes] are Virgil, Ibou, Mo, Ryan and Dom the ones that are used to this intensity and this level. And again, they showed up really good," the Liverpool boss said.

"I can tell you now you won’t be seeing them on Tuesday," he added. "If that’s any help for Southampton then they already know."
