Liverpool boss Arne Slot will be missing his first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson, for the upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester United at Anfield this Sunday.
The Brazilian international was absent from the defeat at Chelsea prior to the international break due to an injury sustained during the Champions League loss to Galatasaray. He subsequently withdrew from international duty with Brazil.
Now, the Liverpool stopper is set to miss United's visit, with Giorgi Mamardashvili expected to step in as goalkeeper. Alisson won't return for the midweek Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt, nor for next weekend's journey to Brentford. "Alisson is not training with us, so he's out," said Slot at his press conference for Sunday's game.
"Like I always say, it's so difficult to say [how long he will be out], because the end phase of rehab can always give you positives and negatives. But he will not play this weekend, and also not next week."
But Ryan Gravenberch has fully recovered from a hamstring issue, Slot confirmed, and is likely to participate this weekend.
Ibrahima Konate, the French center-back, is also expected to join his teammates for training on Friday.
Gravenberch played 45 minutes in the Netherlands' 4-0 victory over Finland on Sunday before being taken off at half-time as a precaution. Konate was sent back from France duty with a muscle problem, discovered after the defeat at Stamford Bridge.
"Ryan is completely fit," Slot stated. "Although we still have to train twice. But if you ask me now, he is completely fit.
"We are in a good place with the Dutch national team. If Ronald Koeman can make a decision to either play Tijani Reijnders or Ryan Gravenberch. So he played them both for 45 minutes.
"Ibou has come back to us and has started his sessions again and is expected to train with us today."
Slot also provided an update on the fitness of Alexander Isak, who has spent his first six weeks as a Liverpool player getting up to speed following his blockbuster move from Newcastle.
"He has had five or six weeks of preseason, which is normal for every player, especially if you have been out for three or four months," said Slot.
"Fitness-wise, I think he is close to the level he should be. I think we can judge him in a fair way from now on.
"I think his preseason, maybe finished now. He played a few games, 70,80, 90 minutes. So let’s see where he is in the upcoming weeks."
