Alexander Isak will have to be content with a spot on the bench as Liverpool's club-record signing looks to make his debut against Burnley.
The $169.4million (£125m) striker is yet to kick a ball for his new club following his deadline day switch from Newcastle and has made just one cameo appearance as a substitute for Sweden all season. Isak's lack of match action will likely have played into Arne Slot's thinking over his lineup to face newly-promoted Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.
Hugo Ekitike is expected to continue leading the line for Liverpool after his scoring start to life on Merseyside. The 23-year-old has scored twice in his first three Premier League appearances and was rewarded by earning his senior international debut for France last week.
Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah will keep their roles either side of Ekitike in attack, with Slot set to name an unchanged lineup from the team which beat Arsenal 1-0 in their last game before the international break.
While Ekitike was reduced to just a few minutes in each of France's World Cup qualifiers, both Gakpo and Salah played almost every minute of their fixtures with Netherlands and Egypt. That could boost Isak's chances of making his debut off the bench after getting his first taste of action this season as a 72nd-minute substitute in Sweden's defeat to Kosovo on Monday.
Liverpool boss Slot also has summer signing Jeremie Frimpong back fit from a hamstring injury and available for selection after the full-back took part in training this week.
But Frimpong is not likely to be selected from the start against Scott Parker's Clarets after missing international duty with Netherlands.
Dominik Szoboszlai deputised superbly at right-back in Frimpong's absence and was the hero with his stunning free-kick winner last time out against Arsenal.
The Hungarian is set to keep his spot on the right of Liverpool's four-man back-line, with Milos Kerkez on the left and Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate partnering at the heart of the Reds' defence, with Alisson in goal.
Curtis Jones has been ruled out due to an injury sustained in the win over Arsenal.
Slot may have been tempted to hand Jones a start given he was not called up for England during the break.
Instead Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will start in central midfield with Florian Wirtz ahead of them in a more advanced attacking role. Wirtz has struggled to hit the ground running since his $157.2m (£116m) switch from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
He followed up an ineffective display against Arsenal with another indifferent display for Germany in their 2-0 defeat to Slovakia, but did get on the scoresheet as they beat Northern Ireland 3-1.
Teenager Rio Ngumoha is also expected to be part of Liverpool's matchday squad after his last-gasp winner at Newcastle last month.
The 17-year-old made his debut for England's under-19s side during the break and will be among the substitutes.
Predicted Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike
