The wait is almost over for Liverpool fans as the Reds’ new kits for the 2025/26 season are almost upon us.
Liverpool will of course be switching manufacturers for the new campaign, with the club ending its five-year association with Nike as it enters a new era with Adidas from August 1, having entered into an $81 million-a-year agreement for the sportswear company to supply all the first-team, academy and training kits.
Fans have already been given a few glimpses of what the new offerings could look like through various leaks, although there has been nothing official yet. The Reds are still sporting last season’s Nike kits during the opening stages of pre-season before the new strips are unveiled at the start of next month.
Before then, though, next season’s third kit has supposedly been leaked online, along with a retro collection of training and other wears. The third kit’s shirt is rendered in a pastel “Sea Green” paired with white details, incorporating the vintage Trefoil Adidas logo and reviving a retro Liverpool crest from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The new leaked kit has been met with positive feedback from supporters, many of whom are enjoying the retro feel that Adidas looks to be bringing with next season’s kits. That, of course, leads us to wonder what exactly are the best Liverpool kits of the Premier League generation? We’ve picked out five of our favorites...
5. 2006-07 home
Adidas' first offering after the switch from Reebok was in 2006, and it was an instant classic. In fact, this particular writer still has this very shirt in his wardrobe, albeit it might not fit as well as it used to.
The kit instantly brings back memories of Gerrard and Alonso commanding Liverpool's midfield and, on a slightly more sour note, the 2007 Champions League final defeat to AC Milan.
Still, even that's not enough to cramp its style. The Adidas logo in the center was a bit of an odd choice, admittedly, but this goes to show how good just how good their kits can be.
4. 2021-22 away
The most recent offering on this list, and the only one from the Nike era. In general, the offerings from the company have been a bit bland, although last season's home kit was an ideal way to end the partnership.
The 2021-22 away kit, though, was a thing of beauty. The cream shirt with dark green and orange collars, along with the black shorts - chef's kiss.
And of course, it will be forever remembered for THAT 5-0 win at Old Trafford. You can just see Mohamed Salah celebrating his hat-trick in it now, can't you?
3. 2017-18 home
After a long period of disappointing home kits, New Balance got it spot on in 2017. The deeper shade of red, along with the white trim and collar, and the gold Liverbird, was a return to form.
Although it might bring back some bad memories of the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid, the kit also came at a time when there seemed to be a real shift under Jurgen Klopp into the mentality monsters that we would see over the coming years.
2. 1995-96 away
Maybe more of an eclectic taste this one, but whenever Liverpool brings out a green kit, it always feels like it's a banger.
This one is about as retro as you can get with the green and white quarters, and the old school crest, and we love it for it.
1. 2019-20 home
Whether it's the white stripes or the fact that Liverpool ended its 30-year wait for a league title in this kit, this one just feels iconic.
This was at a time when the Reds were at their peak, brushing everyone aside as they stormed to the Premier League crown, and looked outstanding while doing so.
You can often tinker with the classic red kit too much, but New Balance got this one just right. Absolute perfection.
