Liverpool maintained its flawless start to the season with a hard-fought victory over local rival Everton in the Premier League.
The Reds edged out the Toffees 2-1 in the Merseyside derby at Anfield, ensuring they remain top of the pile after the first five matches. Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike were on target for Liverpool in the early Saturday kick-off, securing all three points. Everton's Idrissa Gueye pulled one back in the second half, setting up a tense finale, but Liverpool held firm to secure a well-deserved win.
"Very (satisfied), taking everything into account that we had to play our third game in seven games, having the early kick-off," Arne Slot told Match of the Day after Saturday's game.
"I don't care at all about the early kick-off, but I do care if you have to play on Wednesday night, then you have to manage this through the whole week.
"Taking that all into account and winning the derby with a great first-half performance, it is good."
On his team's goals against Everton, Slot added: "This is what you get when you are fresh, but we were tired in the second half for obvious reasons.
"Our mentality kept us in the game because they didn't have another chance after their 2-1 goal. We have showed great mentality and showed great quality when we were fresh in the first half."
Arne Slot's players will now take a breather before gearing up for a midweek Carabao Cup clash against Southampton.
Following that, it's back to Premier League action as they aim to maintain their perfect start to the season.
