Liverpool Under-21s striker Will Wright has avoided a really serious injury, but will still be out for a couple of months with a knee problem.
Wright, a hotly tipped 17-year-old striker, joined Liverpool from Salford City during the summer transfer window amid interest from a host of top Premier League clubs. Wright was taken off on a stretcher after hurting his knee just 12 minutes into Liverpool's Uefa Youth League game against Atletico Madrid on September 17.
Wright sprained his medial collateral ligament, rather than damaging his anterior cruciate ligament, which would have been a much more serious injury.
Liverpool Under-21s boss Rob Page addressed Wright's injury, saying: "No surgery, but it's going to be a couple of months. It wasn't the main ligament he's damaged, it was the one on the inside, so it is not as bad as we first thought."
Meanwhile, at first-team level, Hugo Ekitike's injury may not be as bad as first feared, as he has been included in the France squad for Les Bleus' upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Iceland.
Ekitike came off during the second half of Liverpool's game against Galatasaray on Tuesday with an apparent muscle problem after overstretching for the ball.
Alisson also came off in Turkey and his prognosis is seemingly bleaker, with the goalkeeper having been left out of Brazil's squad for the upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan.
Liverpool expert James Pearce reported that Alisson is set to be sidelined for at least a few weeks, with the results of a scan expected imminently.
Slot addressed Alisson's injury during a post-game press conference on Tuesday, explaining how the 33-year-old sustained the problem as he sprinted back toward goal after Liverpool lost possession in a dangerous position.
"When he sprinted back he felt something," Slot said. "I cannot tell you [exactly] because I am not a physio, but normally when a player sprints back, feels something, goes to the floor and doesn't come back onto the pitch [it's not good].
"If my player is on the floor, I nine out of 10 times fear the worst – and by the worst I mean he cannot continue. That's what happened with Alisson.
"Normally, he will not be able to play Saturday. That's 99.9 per cent – I've already said 100 per cent, but let's make it 99.9 [although] I think it's 100."
