Liverpool secures another major partnership after smashing $400M barrier

1 hour ago 1

Liverpool has announced a fresh multi-year partnership with digital payments behemoth PayPal as the club's roster of commercial allies continues to expand.

The Reds have secured what represents the inaugural collaboration with a Premier League side for the American corporation, which boasts over 400 million active accounts globally. PayPal has now become the club's "official digital payments" partner, facilitating the introduction of a loyalty scheme for supporters worldwide to accumulate points through match-day transactions.

The club states the agreement is "set to enhance the way Liverpool FC fans engage with the club, both online and in person," and the fresh partnership follows closely behind the Premier League team's deal with Haier, the premium home appliance manufacturer, who agreed terms at the beginning of September. In other news, Andy Robertson has been hailed as a "true leader" after helping Scotland qualify for next year's World Cup.

Liverpool indicates the PayPal arrangement will also aim to raise the profile of the women's team, with initiatives being undertaken to broaden grassroots programmes via the club's official charity, the LFC Foundation.

The Reds have additionally welcomed UPS, Google Pixel, Peloton, and Orion Innovation to their collection of partners recently, while an agreement with Japan Air earlier this year was connected to the decision to embark upon a preseason tour of Hong Kong and Japan.

Liverpool also secured a contract with Visit Maldives in March.

Ben Latty, chief commercial officer at the Reds, said: "PayPal is one of the most recognised and trusted names in digital payments, and we're delighted to welcome them to the LFC family.

"Their expertise in providing fast, secure, and flexible transactions makes them the ideal partner to help us elevate the experience for supporters worldwide.

"This partnership is an exciting step forward in our commitment to innovation, ensuring fans can engage with the club in a seamless and secure way.

"PayPal's dedication to supporting women's football and grassroots development also aligns perfectly with our values and future focus, making this collaboration even more meaningful."

Geoff Seeley, who is the chief marketing officer at PayPal, added: "Our global collaboration with LFC reinforces our relationship with sports fans everywhere, building on our world class professional and collegiate sports partnerships around the world.

"We're offering customers a seamless and flexible experience that rewards them for doing something they love, whether buying the new kit or grabbing a pint at the match and settling up with friends later - PayPal is the smarter way to pay for LFC and sports fans globally."

The Reds revealed in February, within their latest financial accounts, that commercial income had increased by £36 million ($47.2 million) to reach £308 million ($404 million).

That sum is anticipated to grow further in the upcoming financial reports due to numerous fresh partnerships secured in 2025.
