'Liverpool should consider sizable Mohamed Salah offer - but Arne Slot could soon repeat PSG trick'

Liverpool has had some extreme highs and lows during 2025, and heads into the New Year hoping to cement its spot in the Champions League places — and maybe more

Liverpool is approaching the halfway mark in the season and faces Wolves next. Arne Slot's side has won its last two Premier League games and with winnable home fixtures coming up, it needs to kick on.

Ahead of taking on Rob Edwards' side at Anfield on Saturday, we caught up with US-based Liverpool fan Morgan O'Sullivan, from Florida, to get his take on the Reds.

What have you made of Liverpool FC in 2025?

2025 has been a great year overall. We won the league. We had amazing celebrations at Anfield and in the city. We had a transfer window to dream of. The season started with a bang and then we have lost our way in the last couple of months.

In a way, it is similar to the season after we last won the league. The only difference this time is that we have not necessarily fallen as far behind. As we approach the festive fixtures, we are 10 points off the top. It will be interesting to see where we are come January.

People are slipping into the doubters category, but now more than ever, we need to become believers. We have largely the same team as last season. We are the champions, and champions do not become a bad team overnight.

Does Arne Slot still have your full backing?

The manager came in and won the league in his first season. Not many people can do that. He had a glorious transfer window in the summer, but I sense this is what has caused the greatest heartache for the manager.

Ultimately, I feel he has struggled to fit them all in, and he is still trying to find the balance that the team had last season. Once this is figured out, and the current signs indicate we are getting there, we will get close to the top again.

Remember, PSG had a very poor early half to the season last year, and they exploded in the second half of the year. It is not impossible for us to do the same.

What should happen next with Mohamed Salah?

The hunger and energy that Mohamed Salah demonstrated in his last game for the Reds is what we need to see for the remainder of the season. I would love him to return with that frame of mind.

A Salah in that kind of form could transform this team from top-four challenges to getting back into the title race. However, at the end of the day, football is business.

Should a sizable offer come in that is over the £100 million mark, we should definitely consider it as a club if a suitable replacement becomes available.

If I could grant you one Liverpool FC Christmas wish, what would you ask for?

I ask Santa for the league every Christmas and this year was no different. I still believe. Back in 1989, we were 19 points behind Arsenal at Christmas, and we only lost the league on goal difference. We should always have hope. Now is the time to get behind the team and manager.

What about the January transfer window — what's your number one priority?

We tried to sign Marc Guehi in the summer. It was obvious then that we needed another defender. While Giovanni Leoni may be working his way back to fitness, we could do with more experience that can come straight in. If Salah was to leave and Isak is out for a long time, we would need an additional attacking option.
