Liverpool Women has completed the signing of Anna Josendal – several years after links with the Norwegian forward first emerged.

Josendal joined the Reds from Hammarby IF in Sweden, having spent the last two years there. Josendal was first linked with Liverpool in the summer of 2023, but she went on to join Hammarby in December of that year.

In a witty move on social media, Liverpool responded to a post from a fan on social media platform X which was written in July 2023, which said: "What happened to Anna Josendal's news? Are we signing her or not?"

After Josendal's move was confirmed two and a half years on from that post, Liverpool's social media admin replied: "Sorry, we're a bit late on this one", alongside a winky-face emoji.

"It feels amazing to be here," Josendal told club media after putting pen to paper on a contract on Merseyside. "This has been my dream since I was a little kid – Liverpool has always been my favourite team and my whole family is supporting them as well, so it's big for me.

"I spoke a lot with Gareth [Taylor] and Andy [O'Boyle] and that felt so good, and also to play in the Barclays Women's Super League, the best league in Europe, is something I really look forward to. To play for this shirt is going to be so special, so I can't wait to get started.

"(Speaking with Gareth Taylor) was really important. He knows my playing style and I think I will fit in good here. I'm really excited to get started."

She added: "The facilities are so nice. I've never seen this in a women's team before, so it's great to see the facilities and this is a place I can develop as a player."

Explaining what kind of player she is to her new supporters, Josendal said: "I would say I am an offensive player who likes going forward. I like going one-against-one with defenders and I also like to get crosses into the box. So, I'm an offensive player."

Josendal, 24, won the Norwegian Women's Cup with former club Rosenborg in 2023, and was named Toppserien Player of the Year in the same season after registering 17 goal involvements in 24 appearances.

Josendal made her international debut for Noway in 2022, and represented her country at the 2023 World Cup.
