Liverpool has confirmed its squad for the Champions League game against Marseille on Wednesday night.

Mohamed Salah has been included for the Reds after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt earlier this week. The Reds star has been missing since the win over Brighton at Anfield but will hope to play some part in the Champions League encounter.

There is no Ibrahima Konate though, with the Frenchman in his homeland to deal with a personal matter. There had been suggestions that he would link up with his teammates but that is not expected to be the case, with Konate not named in the traveling party.

Liverpool's players left John Lennon Airport on Tuesday, with Arne Slot due to speak to the media later in the day, to preview the game against Marseille.

The Reds are desperately short of defensive options, with Conor Bradley currently sidelined, alongside young defender Giovanni Leoni. UEFA rules also mean Calvin Ramsay cannot be added to the squad, as he was not registered at the start of the season.

Ramsey also does not qualify for the List B for the competition, as he is now over 21.

Liverpool currently sits in ninth place in the Champions League table, with four wins and two defeats from its six games so far. As things stand, Slot's men would require a playoff game to progress to the knockout stages.

The Reds take on Marseille on Wednesday night before ending the league phase at home to Qarabag next week, with a trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League in between.

Liverpool travelling party for Marseille fixture: Alisson, Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Ekitike, Mamardashvili, Robertson, Woodman, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Ngumoha.
