Liverpool star Mohamed Salah makes bold Arsenal Premier League title prediction

2 days ago 8

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has named Arsenal as his "favourite" to win the Premier League title this season.

Mikel Arteta's side made a winning start to the 2025/26 campaign on Sunday, beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to Riccardo Calafiori's first half strike. The Gunners have spent in excess of £180 million on seven new players in the transfer window as they bid to win the top flight title for the first time since 2004.

Arsenal have come so close to getting over the line in recent years, finishing second in each of the last three seasons.

They ran Manchester City to the wire in 2022/23 and 2023/24 before losing out to Liverpool, who ended up finishing a mammoth ten points clear last time out.

But Salah, who scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists in 38 league appearances for Liverpool last season, believes that Arsenal are the frontrunners to win the title this time around.

In a TikTok live stream from the red carpet of the PFA Awards gala at Manchester Opera House on Tuesday evening, presenter Cecil Thomas admitted to the Liverpool attacker that he is an Arsenal fan.

Salah was playfully asked to 'slow down' to give the Gunners a chance at winning the league.

"I think you have a great team this season," Salah responded. "You have a really good chance.

"I think you are favourites now because you have players [that have] been together for five years now. I can’t say I wish you luck but hopefully we do it again."

Salah should get a chance to test his prediction when Arsenal travel to Anfield on Sunday, August 31.

The Gunners picked up a valiant point the last time they travelled to the red side of Merseyside, with Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino scoring in a 2-2 draw for Arteta's side back in May.

Before that, Arsenal host Leeds United on Saturday. Meanwhile, Liverpool travel to Newcastle United in what is looking like a blockbuster match-up with Alexander Isak's future still uncertain.
