Liverpool U18s conceded EIGHT goals at home against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday in a heavy defeat for Simon Wiles' side in the league, with Alvin Ayman getting sent off.
The young Reds were 3-2 down at half-time but conceded five after the interval in a nightmare second half. Ayman was shown a straight red card in the 70th minute, when the score was 6-2 to the visitor.
Blackburn went 8-2 up with two quick-fire goals that came after that, before Haydn Murray-Holme got himself on the scoresheet. La'more Forrester and Josh Sonni-Lambie were the first-half goalscorers for Liverpool.
Freddie Leatherbarrow scored a hat-trick for Blacknburn, with Jayden Sargeant, Valentin Joseph (two), Aaron Potter and Harry Lister also finding the back of the net.
Josh Abe (15) and Erik Farkas (16) made their debut at U18 level for Liverpool in the game, while Joe Bradshaw wasn't involved and could therefore feature for the U21s against Manchester United today.
Liverpool U18s will be back in league action next Saturday (September 27) when they take on Leeds United away from home. Kick-off at Thorp Arch is 12pm UK time (7am ET).
Liverpool team: Misciur, Esdaille, Ayman, Cisse, Clarke, Upton (Murray-Holme, 46), Abe (Yeguo, 60), Farkas (Lonmeni, 60), Inglethorpe, Sonni-Lambie, Forrester (Owen, 71).
Earlier this week, U18s manager Wiles spoke to Liverpool.com in his first interview since joining the Reds from Manchester United.
"I think one thing for sure that we have got here is that opportunity and the pathway for young players to go and progress," he said.
"That's one of the reasons why I wanted to be here. I wanted it to be part of the next generation of players that are coming through."

"It has been really good," the ex-Blackpool midfielder said when asked about his start to life at Kirkby. "I’m working with some really good people, some really good members of staff and I’m just really pleased at how the lads have started.
"I'm only five or six weeks in and I think the way that the lads put the performances in over the first three league games has been positive, but always still lots to work on and improve on, both individually and as a team.
"I’m looking forward to the next fixtures this week and then yeah, take it from there."
