Liverpool transfer latest amid Harvey Elliott interest, Marc Guehi hopes, Jayden Danns decision

3 weeks ago 9

Harvey Elliott could become the unexpected transfer saga of deadline day for Liverpool, with the midfielder attracting plenty of interest ahead of the window closing on Monday.

A move to RB Leipzig failed to materialize earlier this window, and a renewed push from the German club on Friday did not result in his departure from Anfield. Liverpool value the midfielder at above £40 million ($54M), with the fees paid this summer for Tyler Dibbling, Mateus Fernandes and Omari Hutchinson used to underline that stance.

Liverpool.com understands Crystal Palace and West Ham United remains keen on Elliott ahead of the deadline, while the Times also claims Aston Villa is monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation.

He may not be the only high-profile departure from Liverpool on Monday, with AC Milan keen on signing Joe Gomez.

The defender, who made an important cameo off the bench in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Arsenal, will not be permitted to leave on loan, while a permanent exit will only be allowed if a deal for Marc Guehi can be concluded.

However, there’s a sense at Liverpool that following Oliver Glasner’s comments on Sunday that looks increasingly difficult.

Liverpool remains keen on Marc Guehi

There's a sense at Liverpool that any move for Marc Guehi on deadline day will be difficult.

The Austrian said Palace “have to keep” Guehi. “It's not possible within one day to find the replacement who can play immediately in the Premier League,” he said after the 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, the imminent arrival of Alexander Isak will not change the picture for Jayden Danns, Liverpool.com understands.

The academy product missed Liverpool Under-21s’ win over Stoke City on Friday, leading to suggestions online that he could be on the verge of leaving.

Jayden Danns

Danns will remain with Liverpool beyond the end of the transfer window

But despite several Championship clubs expressing an interest in taking Danns on loan, he will not depart Liverpool on deadline day.

Leipzig had even expressed an interest in signing the teenager on a permanent basis, but after an injury-plagued 2025 there is a belief that staying at Liverpool is in his best for his progression at this stage.

Elsewhere, Liverpool will look to arrange a loan move for Kaide Gordon on deadline day. There has been some reluctance from Championship clubs to bring in the 20-year-old after underwhelming stints at Norwich City and Portsmouth last season, so a move further down the pyramid seems more likely.
