Liverpool will be active in the summer transfer market once again, with Arne Slot's roster still in need of more reinforcements. A corner has been turned, but there is more work to do.

In its last seven games, Liverpool has won six times. A route to the Champions League spots now feels a lot more likely. But even if that is achieved, more additions will be required to get Slot's men back to the level that they want to be.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds. We start with someone who was linked with a move to Anfield in January.

Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan)

Liverpool remains an option for Denzel Dumfries in the summer, according to the Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web. The 29-year-old was linked with a move to Anfield in January.

Curtis Jones, who Liverpool did not want to sell, was wanted by Inter Milan, and links with Dumfries emerged at the same time. At 29, though, he felt more like a short-term solution.

The Reds tried to do a deal for Lutsharel Geertruida, who is on loan at Sunderland from RB Leipzig, but couldn't get that one over the line. It proved too difficult to do.

By the summer, though, Conor Bradley will be back and Jeremie Frimpong should be more attuned to life in the Premier League. He looked sharp when he returned from his latest injury this weekend.

In the meantime, Liverpool has used Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez at right-back successfully. It has already agreed a deal for the center-back Jeremy Jacquet, who will arrive at the end of the campaign.

Liverpool.com says: There are a few areas of the pitch that require more depth, but right-back probably isn't one of them. Adding an extra center-back should unlock Gomez as an option at full-back when needed too.

Darwin Nunez (Al-Hilal)

Liverpool only sold Darwin Nunez to the Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal last summer, but the Uruguayan could be on the way back to the Premier League this year.

Rumors have linked Newcastle with interest in the striker, while the former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has advised his old side to make a move.

"I would actually recommend Nunez for Chelsea," he told Foot Italia. "He’s a very good player, a smart player — he just needs the right environment to perform.

"When Liverpool identified his potential, they knew what they had statistically. But when you start on a bad note, the confidence disappears and the consideration from those around you follows.

"It’s like Dennis Bergkamp going to Inter Milan — things went completely wrong. Or Roberto Carlos in his early days, shooting the ball into the stands. The confidence wasn’t there.

"That’s what happened to Nunez at Liverpool. But the quality is still there. He’s at Al-Hilal now and has scored around six goals in 16 matches (it is actually nine in 24) — not bad at all."

Liverpool.com says: Nunez was left out of Al-Hilal's squad when it signed Karim Benzema in January. An exit seems likely, but it would be interesting to see if any English team came in for him. It would be a risk, for sure.
