Liverpool confirmed its latest transfer move on Friday, announcing the arrival of the exciting Italian defender Giovanni Leoni. But there remains more work to be done before the summer deadline arrives in two weeks.
In attack, Liverpool is still a little light, with Alexander Isak the main target there. And another center-back could still come through the door on top of the 18-year-old Leoni.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. No prizes for guessing where we begin... Isak remains the number one name in the gossip columns after he was left out of Newcastle's squad against Aston Villa.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
Liverpool "won’t wait forever for Alexander Isak" and has set a deadline of this week to get the wheels in motion on a transfer deal, according to the Belgian journalist Sacha Tovalieri.
It is reported that Liverpool recognises the need to have enough options in attack for this season. If Isak is not possible, the suggestion is that sporting director Richard Hughes will look to other potential signings instead.
After their side drew 0-0 with Aston Villa on Saturday, Newcastle fans loudly labeled Isak "greedy" for wanting to move to Liverpool. The relationship between the two parties appears to be broken.

"Nothing has changed," Howe insisted when questioned about the latest on Isak's future. "The door is well and truly open. He has to decide what he wants to do. We would like a resolution.
"We need that clarity. You don't need any kind of distraction. I am not in control of that. There is one person who can control that. Let's wait and see. I have made my stance clear. I am concentrating on the team."
Liverpool.com says: Is the Isak saga ever going to end? It feels like all parties could do with it simply coming to a conclusion now, though the wait for Newcastle to get replacements in continues.
Nathan Collins (Brentford)
Liverpool is expected to press ahead with a move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, but the Daily Mail reports that the Reds are also one of a number of teams who admire Brentford skipper Nathan Collins, who could be an alternative.
Manchester United and Tottenham are also said to be looking for defensive reinforcements, with Collins on the agenda for them too. Previously at Wolves, he took over from Christian Norgaard as Brentford captain this summer.
Brentford, having already lost Thomas Frank and Bryan Mbuemo and with Yoane Wissa looking likely to join Newcastle United, is desperate to keep hold of its best center-back.
Last week, Liverpool signed Giovanni Leoni from Parma. The 18-year-old comes in with one eye on the future for a fee of around $35 million (£26 million).
But Arne Slot's men are perhaps still in need of one more player in that position. Ibrahima Konate's contract will expire next summer as things stand, while Joe Gomez has never had a perfect injury record.
Liverpool.com says: Collins is a good player but playing for Brentford is a very different level to Liverpool. The same could be said of Guehi with Crystal Palace, but he has at least shown he can perform at international level with England.
