Liverpool transfer news as Alexander Isak offer ready and Darwin Nunez gets new exit route

2 weeks ago 59

The new season is getting closer and closer for Liverpool, and it looks like there is still work for the Reds to do before the transfer window closes.

Arne Slot's side is back in action today as it takes on Yokohama F Marinos in Japan, but matters off the field continue to dominate the headlines as sporting director Richard Hughes keeps himself busy.

Luis Diaz is set to be unveiled as a Bayern Munich player today, while the Alexander Isak saga looks as though it's leaning in Liverpool's favor, and the latest reports suggest it could take a major turn soon.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle to Liverpool)

Liverpool is preparing a record offer for Alexander Isak as the striker pushes harder for a move away from Newcastle, according to TBR Football.

It's claimed that Richard Hughes is preparing a package for the 25-year-old, with the Reds having informed Newcastle it is willing to pay more than $160 million for his signature, which would be a new British transfer record.

It's also suggested that Isak is staying away from Newcastle's training ground, having told Eddie Howe he is working on his own training programme at home after being left out of the Magpies' tour of Asia.

Liverpool.com says: There's absolutely no way Liverpool is going to escape paying a record fee for Isak, even with Hughes' knack for getting discounted deals.

If that's what's needed though, then the Reds should do it. Isak is undoubtedly still the dream signing this summer, and it does seem as though Liverpool has firmly turned his head. The more he pushes for the move, the more likely it might be that Newcastle makes a U-turn on its stance.

Darwin Nunez (Liverpool to Juventus)

Darwin Nunez may still make the move to Italy after the door was closed on a switch to Napoli.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Juventus has opened talks with the Uruguayan's representatives as it looks as a potential alternative to Randal Kolo Muani.

The PSG striker is still said to be Juve's top target, although negotiations over a loan deal with an option to buy have proven difficult.

Liverpool.com says: If Juventus is expecting the same sort of deal with Liverpool for Nunez, it's going to be very disappointed. There's surely no way the Reds would settle for a loan to buy option - if they want to offload him, they will want the fee paid straight away.
