Liverpool has just over a week remaining to get more deals done, though it plays twice — against Newcastle United and Arsenal — in that period as well.
And with plenty of games to come domestically and in Europe, the Reds cannot afford to leave themselves short. Liverpool needs at least one attacking signing before the deadline and could sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as well, though it has sured things up a bit at the back with the arrival of Giovanni Leoni.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. Once again, we're starting with the latest look at Alexander Isak.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
It wouldn't be a Liverpool transfer round-up without Isak's name cropping up. For now, Newcastle is still unwilling to sell its star man, but the Swedish outlet Aftonbladet has come up with a potential solution that would need compromises from all sides.
It says Isak could stay at Newcastle and sign a new contract. That new deal would include a release clause so everyone is aware of what it will take to make the transfer happen in January.
The only issue with that, of course, is that Newcastle doesn't want to sell Isak at all, even in the next window. And signing a new contract, even with a clause, would require quite the climbdown from the 25-year-old.

Even if that scenario did play out, Liverpool would still need to be active in this window to bring in another attacker. Hugo Ekitike has arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt, but that isn't enough.
With Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez having been sold, Liverpool is at least one forward short as it stands. If Isak arrives, the need will reduce, but there would still be a question mark when it comes to depth.
Liverpool.com says: It will be nice when Sept. 1 arrives and we know for sure, one way or another, what is going to happen with Isak. It's been the saga of the summer and it's still dragging on. A big few days lie ahead.
Rodrygo (Real Madrid)
The representatives of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo are reportedly set to fly to England because the Brazilian has been offered to Arsenal, with Liverpool said to be interested as well.
Xabi Alonso is supposedly now willing to let Rodrygo leave with Real Madrid demanding $117 million (£87 million), according to TeamTalk. Manchester City has also been linked as a possible replacement for Tottenham-admired Savinho.
Rodrygo failed to play a single minute in Real Madrid’s La Liga opener against Osasuna earlier in the week. He has long been said to be available for the right price, though his wages are high and would have to be factored into any cost assessment too.
Arsenal has only just confirmed the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace for a fee of around $91 million (£67 million), so would need to sell players to free up funds first. Liverpool is the team with the obvious vacancy in attack.
Liverpool.com says: Rodrygo should be a player that Liverpool considers if Isak doesn't happen, and arguably even if that moves does eventually come off. Arne Slot can't afford to be left short of options and Rodrygo is world-class and available.
Having let Diaz and Nunez go, Liverpool will have a plan. It is curious that Rodrygo hasn't moved anywhere yet this summer having been known as a potential departure from the Bernabeu for some time.
